“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. ” – John 20:19-20
Lutherans believe and confess that the Holy Spirit is God. Together with God the Father, and God the Son (Jesus) the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit creates faith in believers, gives us courage and strength for the life of discipleship & mission, comforts us in times of sadness or distress, gives us gifts / abilities to help spread the good news of Jesus, helps us pray, inspired the prophets and writers of sacred scripture, raised Jesus bodily from the dead, and will one day raise all the faithful bodily from the grave.
